Abstract

the aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 6 weeks of Nordic hamstring exercise on Q angle, hamstring to quadriceps strength ratio and electrical activity of these muscles in adolescent soccer players with Genu Varum in Tehran. Among the teenage soccer players with Genu Varum in Tehran, 13 people were randomly selected. The Q angle, the ratio of hamstring to quadriceps strength and the electrical activity of vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, semimembranosus and biceps femoris were measured after 6 weeks of Nordic hamstring exercise Dependent T-test with repeated measurements was used for data analysis. The results showed that there was a significant difference between pre - test and post - test Q angle, hamstring to quadriceps strength ratio in extension and flexion mode at both angular velocities of 60 and 180 degrees per second. The results of pre-test and post-test of electrical activity of semimembranosus, biceps femoris, and vastus lateralis muscles at angular velocity of 60 degrees per second showed a significant difference. And this was while this significant difference was also observable for the semimembranosus and biceps femoris muscles at angular velocity of 180 degrees per second. But in the vastus medialis muscle at angular velocity of 60 and 180 degrees per second and vastus lateralis muscle at angular velocity of 180 degrees per second no significant difference was observed. as a results, the Nordic hamstring exercise can be used for correcting Genu Varum deformity, strengthening the hamstring muscle and preventing injuries caused by these factors.
