Abstract
Background and Purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate the extent of predicting sports injuries of male student athletes using functional Movement screening tests, Y balance test and landing error scoring system. Materials and Methods: The research sample was 189 male student athletes participating in the 15th Iranian Student Sports Olympiad, who were evaluated in team and individual disciplines. Y balance test, landing error scoring system and functional movement screening test were taken from the samples before the Olympiad and the injuries of the athletes during the competition were recorded by the data collection form in a prospective manner. In order to statistically analyze the data, logistic regression test and pearson correlation coefficient were used. Results: The results of the research showed that a total of 39 injuries were recorded during the competition in 189 subjects, which is equivalent to 20.64%. Conclusion: Despite the significant amount of injury of student athletes, none of the predictor variables i.e. triple tests had the ability to predict the criterion variable i.e. injury. It seems that team and individual sports needs more accurate and specific tests for predicting sport injury.
