Abstract

In the present quasi-experimental study, 22 men and women referring to Fars Province MS Association were randomly and purposefully divided into two equal groups of 11 experimental and control individuals. Balance was measured in this study by berg test ,fatigue was measured by electromyography and muscle strenght was measured by Manual dynamometer before and after Pilates exercises. Data analysis was performed by independent and dependent t-tests.
Findings:
The intra-group results of the t-correlated test show an increase in endurance (p=0.02), an improvement in balance (p=0.03) and an increase in hand muscle strength (p=0.02) after performing Pilates exercises, but this variable was not statistically significant in the control group. Regarding the differences between the two experimental and control groups, the independent t-test showed a significant difference in increasing endurance (p=0.03), increasing balance index (p=0.04) and increasing muscle strength (p=0.04) after the end of the Pilates training session.
Conclusion:
The final results of the present study showed that Pilates exercises have significantly reduced muscle fatigue and improved balance indices and ameliorate muscle strenght in patients with MS. The researcher's final suggestion is that this exercise method can be a good way to improve balance, improve muscle strenght and reduce fatigue in these patients.
