Abstract
Flat foot is a condition in which the height of the medial longitudinal arch of the foot is reduced or completely lost. Flat foot can be flexible or hard, and their prevalence in children has been reported. The purpose of this research was to investigate the simultaneous effect of six weeks of short-foot correction exercise and kinesio tape on the medial longitudinal arch of children and adolescents with flexible flat foot. In this research، 36 children and adolescents aged 8 to 12 years were randomly divided into two experimental groups (18 subjects) and a control group (18 subjects). The short-foot exercise protocol and kinesio tape were implemented for six weeks (three sessions each week), and the control group did not receive any program. After collecting the demographic information of the subjects, the amount of navicular loss and the proprioceptive performance index foot were measured before and after six weeks of short foot and kinesio tape exercises. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software (version 22), and to measure the difference between two groups with pre-test control, the covariance analysis method was used at the significance level (0.05). The results of this research showed that the simultaneous use of short foot exercise and kinesio tape is effective on the medial longitudinal arch of children with flat foot. Based on the findings of the research, the simultaneous use of short foot exercise and kinesio tape can be a suitable-proposed method for correcting flat foot.
